Obsessed with slides – A summer footwear essential

Is anyone else out there getting a bit excited about the fact that summer is on it’s way? Silly question?

I am, and starting to think about making a few purchases to update my summer wardrobe. Top of my list has to be a pair of slides. I can’t do heels, but some of these come with a bit of a flat wedge, meaning added height and comfort.

My search has become a bit of an obsession, I tend to get an idea in my head of exactly what I want then spend ages hunting down the perfect item.

Anyway I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favourites, that I have come across so far.

These ones from Deichmann are so simple and chic. They also come in black and a pale pink. At £17.99 they are a bit of a steal aswell.

I love the tropical print on this pair from New look, £15.99

Now this next pair by Sophia Webster at  Net A Porter I absolutely adore, at £195 they are way beyond my budget. One can dream I suppose. Here’s to hoping someone on the high street comes up with a dupe.

This next pair are techniquelly not a slide but the flatform sole has the same feel. I love the pink jelly style. They also come in a cute purple colour. These are on offer at £10 from Wynsors world of shoes.

There are plenty of slides to choose from out that so I don’t think it will be too hard for me to find my perfect pair. I shall keep you posted.

Are you planning on any pre summer purchases? It’s very tempting now the sun is out, and the shops are brimming with new collections.

Bye for now, Katy 🙂

Introducing Bowtown – Pretty accessories for young and old.

Hi guys! Just a quick one for you today as I wanted to share with you these gorgeous hair accessories from new startup business Bowtown.

All the accessories on offer are hand made, by my  talented Cousin Nicky. You can purchase from stock or she is able to customise  items to order.  There is a huge variety of colours to choose from, and you can have the bows made from either chunky glitter or leatherette.

What’s so great about these little headbands is that they can be worn in so many different ways. The bow is functioned on a removable clip that can be worn either on it’s own or with the Alice band. She even does a version that is suitable for babies.

My 2 year old niece is modelling hers  quite proudly, she has named it her pretty. This set cost me £5, orders can be placed through Bow towns Facebook page here. Or you can also find her on instergram as BowtownBow.

In the spirit of diversification Bowtown will soon be launching shoe clips. I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair or two. I fancy some pastel leatherette bows for my pumps this spring.

FOTD – Inspired by Lily Colin’s Glamour Mag Shoot.

Do you ever feel that your stuck in a bit of a make-up rut? I think you may know what I’m talking about, you know when no matter how much make-up you have, you end up just reaching for the same products or  creating the same looks. That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling! Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals, I’ve been needing a kick up the bum where my make-ups concerned.

Now that we are moving into spring, it seemed the ideal time to be having a flick through some magazines for some inspiration. That is how I came across this picture of Lily Collins, looking stunning in a very simple but colourful  look.

This is way out of my comfort zone, particularly as both the eyes and lips are a bright combo. I would usually do one of the other, not both. In for a penny, in for a pound though I decided to have a go at recreating this look.

Ignore my wonky nose in the second pick, I broke it a few years ago, and no amount of contouring is going to put that baby straight. I tend to just leave well alone.

So what did I use?

Collection colour match foundation – 1 Ivory.

BeautyUk ultimate contour palette.

Rimmel brow this way – medium brown.

Daniel Sandler watercolour fluid blusher – Cherub.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.

Illamasqua powder eyeshadow – Burst.

MUA lipstick – shade 16- Nectar.

Stila smudgestick – Angelfish.

Elf high definition Undereye Setting Powder.

Elf Mineral Eyeshadow Primer.

This is what I did when it came to contouring, I was aiming for the undereye glow, paired with a natural flush of colour on the cheeks.

I don’t think I’ve done too bad a job, I’m pleased with how it looks. I was having a bit of a giggle with the husband as I asked him if he thought I’d got the look right. His response was ‘she’s more glowing’, ha ha I casually broke it to him that airbrushing has been involved to achieve that glow. See a bit of Intagram filteration And I’m glowing to!

Have you been feeling in a make-up rut lately? What do you to if you need to shake things up a bit?

Bye for now, Katy 🙂

NOTD – Rainbow pastels for spring

Hi guys! March is here, it’s warming up a bit and early spring bulbs are starting to bloom. To me, that’s a sign that spring is on it’s way. This has inspired me to start dabbling in pretty pastel nails. What do you do though If you can’t decide what colour to go for? My answer is to where them all for a simple rainbow nail.

I think they look great against my black stonewashed jeans. The colours really pop. Below are the nail varnishes I used, but you can do this with any pastel shades you have knocking around.

FYI the purple is a scented Revlon one, it’s bizarre as once dry it really doesn’t smell of nail polish. The Binky London polish in my opinion has the best formula out of all these polishes. They are pretty reasonably priced as well at £2.95

Are you in the mood for spring yet or is it still very wintery where you live?

Bye for now, Katy 🙂

Obsessed With White Jeans

One of my favourite times of year, on the fashion calender, is when the new spring/summer collections start arriving in the shops. Now that we are approaching the end of the January sales these are starting to pop up on the high street. One particular item that has come under my radar is brilliantly white skinny jeans. Highly impractical, particularly as a mum I know, but boy do I want a pair. I shall just have to keep them for best or failing that stock up on vanish he, he.

I have spent a fair bit of time scouring various retailers on-line just to see what styles are available, prior to me taking a shopping trip and trying my favourites on. Let’s just hope I find that perfectly fitting pair. I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favourites so far.

Ripped Leigh jeans £40 Topshop.

1969 skinny skimmer jean £49.50 Gap

High waisted skinny £24.99 Newlook

Ralph Lauren @ Asos

Well there you have it, some of the white jeans that have been catching my eye. When I find my perfect pair I will report back with an OOTD post.

What’s top of your clothing wishlist? Have you got a fab pair of white jeans, I would love to know where you got them from.

Bye for now, Katy 🙂

OOTD – A Breakfast date

This is a little bit late in posting, I actually took these pictures last week when it was much colder, check out that frost. This is what I wore for a breakfast date with my husband.

We have three kiddies, so it can be a bit of struggle to find a baby sitter whilst also juggling shift work. Consequently evening time dates are very rare. This is why we tend to have breakfast or coffee dates, when the kids are at school. It’s a good job I like breakfast.

On this occasion I wore high waisted mom jeans, ankles rolled up, paired with a chunky orange sweater. Despite the cold I was in the mood to wear my Leather biker jacket from French Connection. The leather is super soft and of such high quality. Regular readers will also spot my favourite biker boots and the snood I purchased last week from Primark. My bag was a Christmas gift from my mum, it’s by Floozie @ Debenhams.

After breakfast we went for a stroll around the shops, we were just window shopping on this occasion. Still it was nice to be out in the fresh air.

I think he's enjoying that sausage a bit to much.

Jeans: River Island.
Sweater: Marks & Spencer.
Leather Jacket: French Connection.
Snood: Primark.

OOTD – The £10 Primark outfit – avoiding shopping mistakes.

Hi guys, so the title is a teeny bit of a stretch, those boots did not come from Primark. The rest of this ensemble did though.

I was having a little shop the other day and came across this checked smock dress in the sales for £5. The print I loved instantly, but I was a bit unsure about the cut, but after trying it on I decided this was a do. This is something I’m going to have to remind myself to do in future;
a) It breaks me out of my comfort zone.
b) It stops me making any hideous clothing mistakes.
c) It’s only a bargain if you actually wear purchase, not just chuck it in the back of the wardrobe. (Go on admit it, we’ve all been there).

To go with this I picked up some accessories in contrasting colours.

The burgundy soft knit tights were a steal at £2, The snood was also at £2. I had already seen on another girls blog Justalittlebitgingerthat Primark had some pretty costume Jewellery for as little as one pound. Though I thought her pick was really pretty this one matched my outfit better. I kind of wish is picked up both though, damn being sensible.

The cardigan and boots I already and and had pre-emoted that they would finish of this outfit. The boots are from Very.co.uk, I did a more detailed post about this HEREI. The cardigan is a hand me down from my sister, we do a lot of clothes and make-up swapping.

I’m very pleased with this outfit, I was bored of Jeans and jumpers, it’s been cold lately. This is a nice change and still quite warm.

Bye for now, Katy 🙂

The studded biker boot – my winter staple

These Boots have to be up there with my favourite purchases of 2014. Buying footwear is always a bit tricky for me. I love shoes, and have always been a shoe rather than a bag lady. Unfortunately I am unable to wear heels anymore, so my shoe collection has become somewhat neglected. (Damn scholiosis!) This aside I still appreciate a fab pair of shoes. Shoe shopping just takes me a bit longer.

This particular pair of boots took me a long time to find. I needed comfort but didn’t want to compromise on style. I also wanted a pair that was versatile enough to be worn with both trousers and skirts.

This is the pair I ended up with, and I am not disappointed. Let me introduce the Estelle boot by Fearne Cotton from Very.co.uk. Priced at a very reasonable £64 these are worth every penny.

(Image obtained from Very website)

For me they tick all the right boxes, when it comes to my personal requirements.

•water resistant.
•long wearing.

If you are in the market for a new pair of boots these are definitely worth checking out. My next mission is to find a dressy flat sandal, any pointers as to wear to look would be welcome.

Bye for now, Katy

The girl in the bobble hat

Just a quick one today, but I wanted to share with you one of my favourite christmas presents, courtesy of Mr S.

This chunky cable knit hat from Superdry £19.99 is so cosy and warm. I love the great big bobble on it, it looks very cute. Superdry is not somewhere I would usually shop but I had to have a peek to see if they did a matching scarf. They do and I’m now trying to justify parting with £34.99 for the matching scarf. I have to wait till payday, if I’m still lusting after if then I may have to make a purchase. If orange is not your thing it comes in plenty of other colours. I quite like the look of the raspberry coloured one.

This pic is so missing the scarf, what do you think?
