A couple of weeks ago I talked about my latest mad idea to drastically downsize my wardrobe by embarking on my own little project 333 journey. You can read more about what that actually is this blog post here.
I am roughly 1 month in to the project and can honestly say this has been one of the most freeing things I have ever done. I am appreciating the items of clothing that I have in my wardrobe and actually enjoying the challenge of mixing and matching to create different looks with the same few clothes.
One of my most worn pieces is this very basic dress from Joules. I love how versatile it is and the fact that I can create some very different looks with it.
As it is such a simple shape the dress works well layered with different jumpers giving it the appearance off a skirt.
By simply switching out the jumper I wear I can achieve an entirely different look.
Worn with a leather jacket and long boots this dress doesn’t look out of place heading to the pub either.
The dress unfortunately is no longer available in the navy colour that I have, but it is still available in two other colours. Either a Grey or a salt wash blue that would work equally well.
I hope this post has given you some inspiration to get get the maximum use out of key items I your wardrobe.
So I fell off the #BEDM waggon a little bit. Damn busy social life and a minor thing such as an end of module assignment due this morning! That had been submitted now though, pheww!
Yes I feel like a proper student right now. Out all weekend, hangovers and blearily trying to polish my essay. I was halfway responsible and did actually do most of that before the drinking commenced.
Anyway that’s why I’ve been AWOL and I’m completely ill prepared for anything remotely constructive on here today, so instead your getting a ‘Outfit of the Day’post.
Man I love these boots! They look hot and best of all are totally comfortable. I’ve basically had them on most of the weekend.
The swing dress was a bargain I picked up from Hollister back in March. It was in the sale and I think was just £12.99. They did have it in other colours but I do love a bit of grey. I can only find the burgundy version online at the moment.
The dress Is made from stretchy ribbed material so it’s super comfy, hides and lumpy bits and gives the impression I’ve made an effort, especially when combined with the boots.
I like that it’s short but not indecent, I’m too old for that now.
Not going to lie I felt like a bit of a tit posing for these pictures on the way to the pub Friday night. Yes…a fashion blogger I am not. You probably would have found it hilarious watching me trying to do the casual walking away, looking over my shoulder thing. Thanks hubby for the perseverance!! There was nothing casual about it.
I suppose I ought to tell you where the boots are from? They were from very.co.uk in the last month. I cannot find them on the website anymore but they do have a very similar pair here.
In fact they are almost identical, they are just stupidly more expensive at £100.
Hopefully now I’ve recovered from the weekend and all Uni work is now complete for the summer (I’m air fist pumping right now) usual service can resume on schoolrunbeauty.com
Bye for now, Katy x
There is something about crisp white cotton paired with denim that just says classically stylish. It’s a look that is very difficult to get wrong. This was a perfect choice then to wear for my kids sports day.
Excuse the messy hair and lack of make-up in this pick, it was evening before I got a chance to get someone to take a full length shot.
I had seen a few crisp cotton tops with a boho feel to them on the high street. I was just yet to commit to a purchase. This one I happened to come across in a pop up charity shop. Looking like new and originally from M&S this was a bit of a steel at £2.90.
The detailing around the neckline I love, paired with some denim cut-off’s (made from a £3 gap charity shop find) this makes a comfy yet stylish outfit. The little gold coloured chains I picked up from Primark.
This outfit called for some white pumps, this pair are from Primark again. They cost me £4. The laced effect material is so delicate and pretty.
Total cost of this outfit was £12.40, not bad really. I know I will get plenty of wear out of this top.
So, I wanted to share with you today’s outfit. It is one of my favourite looks right now. The print on the shirt has such a 70’s vibe to it.
The TopShop shirt I picked up from my local British Heart Foundation Charity Shop. I think I paid about £4 for it, great considering it’s near perfect condition. The fit and the print I am loving.
The shorts and cardigan are an old, I’m talking several seasons. Do you think I might be a horder? They are classic basics though so easy to find similar.
The sandals are my go to right now, they are a recent purchase from JustFab. It did a full blog post dedicated to these, check it out Here if you like.
Thanks for stoping by, don’t forget you can also follow me on Instagram and Bloglovin.
Today I’m bringing you an OOTD post with a little bit of a twist. This is no fashion post, nu uh!
I have decided to share my thoughts with you on Primarks workout range.
I rejoined the gym a couple of weeks back and needed to get my hands on some new workout gear. Not wanting to fork out a lot of money I popped into Primark as I had previously seen they had some great looking bits at very reasonable prices.
In the end I picked up a pair of seam free cropped leggings and 2 sports bra type crop tops, all combined came to under a tenner.
Having completed a few workouts wearing these I can tell you that they do the job quite nicely.
The seam free leggings at £6 are perfect. They have a nice high waist band that stays put. This is a must when I’m working out as I hate having to worry about losing my bottoms.
The fabric is lightweight and quick drying so there are none of those nasty sweat patches. The only thing I did find though was that my legs felt very warm in comparison to the rest of my body. This is not a problem outdoors or during the winter months but on a hot day I would probably opt for a different pair.
Moving on to the tops now. These are so much better than I expected. I did think I was going to have to double up with a more heavy duty sports bra underneath, in fact the first time I did actually do this. Having worn the grey one again since minus the bra though this did give me enough support.
The neon top though is thinner so for modesty sakes I’m still wearing a bra underneath.
Its worth bearing in mind that as my bra size is a small 34b I get away with less support. If you had a larger busy this definitely wouldn’t provide enough support.
I have bunged these in the washing machine a couple of times and have a no problems, they still look good with no shrinkage. I air dry them though as I don’t believe that they would fair well in a tumble dryer.
Overall I’m rather impressed by Primark’s workout range. It’s low cost and good quality. When I need some new kit this will be one of the first places I look.
What do you like to wear for working out? Do you go budget or do you prefer the typical brands such as Nike and Adidas?
Bye for now, Katy 🙂
Today I went to the gym for a bit of a gentle workout, swimming and then for some lunch. Your probably thinking, why bother with the gym if your going to undo that hard work with lunch out? Yes I know it seems a bit backwards. Hmmm I had skinny milk if that helps? No?
To late now anyway, lol!
I have been working on putting the weight back on that I lost when I was unwell last year, so I don’t feel too guilty. I have actually achieved my target weight so now am concerntrating on turning that extra weight into toned muscle. Trickier than it sounds as I am restricted with exercise. We have found a few though that will work for me, fingers crossed.
I thought I would share with you the outfit I wore for lunch as Im 100% in love with this T-Shirt. The flamingo print is just so much fun.
Teamed with some pink chinos and my flatform sandals this makes a fun outfit that is still practical. Yes, that P word, it becomes important when your kids seem to be getting better and better at running rings round you. Please tell me it’s not just me!
Please ignore the not do great lighting and make-up. It has peed it down all day so no chance of out and about photography stops. This was in the evening when I had given up all hope of a dry sky and was about to have a bubble bath and face mask.
Any way, i do actually feel really good when I wear this outfit, regardless of it’s practicalities, or the lack of makeup.
T- Shirt – Primark
Chinos – Next (last year)
Sandals – JustFab
Thanks for stopping by, Katy 🙂

Bye for now, Katy 🙂
This is a little bit late in posting, I actually took these pictures last week when it was much colder, check out that frost. This is what I wore for a breakfast date with my husband.
We have three kiddies, so it can be a bit of struggle to find a baby sitter whilst also juggling shift work. Consequently evening time dates are very rare. This is why we tend to have breakfast or coffee dates, when the kids are at school. It’s a good job I like breakfast.
On this occasion I wore high waisted mom jeans, ankles rolled up, paired with a chunky orange sweater. Despite the cold I was in the mood to wear my Leather biker jacket from French Connection. The leather is super soft and of such high quality. Regular readers will also spot my favourite biker boots and the snood I purchased last week from Primark. My bag was a Christmas gift from my mum, it’s by Floozie @ Debenhams.
After breakfast we went for a stroll around the shops, we were just window shopping on this occasion. Still it was nice to be out in the fresh air.
I think he's enjoying that sausage a bit to much.
Jeans: River Island.
Sweater: Marks & Spencer.
Leather Jacket: French Connection.
Bye for now, Katy 🙂
Hi guys, so the title is a teeny bit of a stretch, those boots did not come from Primark. The rest of this ensemble did though.
I was having a little shop the other day and came across this checked smock dress in the sales for £5. The print I loved instantly, but I was a bit unsure about the cut, but after trying it on I decided this was a do. This is something I’m going to have to remind myself to do in future;
a) It breaks me out of my comfort zone.
b) It stops me making any hideous clothing mistakes.
c) It’s only a bargain if you actually wear purchase, not just chuck it in the back of the wardrobe. (Go on admit it, we’ve all been there).
To go with this I picked up some accessories in contrasting colours.
The burgundy soft knit tights were a steal at £2, The snood was also at £2. I had already seen on another girls blog Justalittlebitgingerthat Primark had some pretty costume Jewellery for as little as one pound. Though I thought her pick was really pretty this one matched my outfit better. I kind of wish is picked up both though, damn being sensible.
The cardigan and boots I already and and had pre-emoted that they would finish of this outfit. The boots are from Very.co.uk, I did a more detailed post about this HEREI. The cardigan is a hand me down from my sister, we do a lot of clothes and make-up swapping.
I’m very pleased with this outfit, I was bored of Jeans and jumpers, it’s been cold lately. This is a nice change and still quite warm.
Bye for now, Katy 🙂
