FOTD – Inspired by Lily Colin’s Glamour Mag Shoot.

Do you ever feel that your stuck in a bit of a make-up rut? I think you may know what I’m talking about, you know when no matter how much make-up you have, you end up just reaching for the same products or  creating the same looks. That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling! Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals, I’ve been needing a kick up the bum where my make-ups concerned.

Now that we are moving into spring, it seemed the ideal time to be having a flick through some magazines for some inspiration. That is how I came across this picture of Lily Collins, looking stunning in a very simple but colourful  look.

This is way out of my comfort zone, particularly as both the eyes and lips are a bright combo. I would usually do one of the other, not both. In for a penny, in for a pound though I decided to have a go at recreating this look.

Ignore my wonky nose in the second pick, I broke it a few years ago, and no amount of contouring is going to put that baby straight. I tend to just leave well alone.

So what did I use?

Collection colour match foundation – 1 Ivory.

BeautyUk ultimate contour palette.

Rimmel brow this way – medium brown.

Daniel Sandler watercolour fluid blusher – Cherub.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.

Illamasqua powder eyeshadow – Burst.

MUA lipstick – shade 16- Nectar.

Stila smudgestick – Angelfish.

Elf high definition Undereye Setting Powder.

Elf Mineral Eyeshadow Primer.

This is what I did when it came to contouring, I was aiming for the undereye glow, paired with a natural flush of colour on the cheeks.

I don’t think I’ve done too bad a job, I’m pleased with how it looks. I was having a bit of a giggle with the husband as I asked him if he thought I’d got the look right. His response was ‘she’s more glowing’, ha ha I casually broke it to him that airbrushing has been involved to achieve that glow. See a bit of Intagram filteration And I’m glowing to!

Have you been feeling in a make-up rut lately? What do you to if you need to shake things up a bit?

Bye for now, Katy 🙂
